420 studio portraits, Assignment 1

420 Studio shots.

Kaitlin Thorne stands in front of the backdrop she painted on Sept. 9 in Central Michigan University's Wightman Hall photo studio.
Kaitlin is an artistic young woman, whose interests range from painting to acting, with everything in between.

Taryn Wattles lies amongst her collection of hundreds of rubber ducks Sept. 14 in Central Michigan University's Wightman Hall photo studio.
"That's the thing I like about ducks ... They can be anyone. They can be a knight in shining armor and save the day, or they can be a cat."

  1. I really like the first photo, they both have good lighting, but the first one looks great. There is a nice contrast between the light on either side of her face and the paint really helps to drive her emotion and dedication of painting.

  2. Like sleepywagon627 said, your first photo is bright, colorful and full of contrast. It helps that Kaitlin is a solid choice for this assignment, but you got the composition right and your subject matter is pretty interesting.

Your second photo is pretty interesting again, but the lighting is a little flat. You don't really have any shadows on your subject, this is a little bothersome.

  3. I love the idea in the first picture. I love how there is color everywhere but it all ties together. The second photo has a lot going on, but I also think it works. I feel like looking at this picture that this girl is just crazy about rubber ducks. It is really fun. Good work finding models with personality and I am in love with the lighting in the first photo.

  5. I love the picture of Kaitlin! Its so her. Very colorful and revealing. You did a great job!

And the picture of the girl with all of the rubber ducks was probably the best out of the entire class. I love the quirkiness of it.

    Overall, fantastic job C:
